Tucked on the west end of town, what began in 1985 as a modest garden centre catering to local landscapers has grown, quietly, steadily, and beautifully, into something much more. It is a year-round destination for anyone who believes that how you tend your space says something about how you live.
A Family Business, in the Truest Sense
Wayne Belding came to this with intention. After studying landscape design and spending years working at nurseries and landscape companies, he opened Living Landscapes with a clear purpose: to bring quality plants and growing supplies to the community he called home. The early days were rooted in the essentials, top soil, mulch, hardy Ontario-grown nursery stock, the kind of inventory that serious gardeners and landscapers depend on.
Dorothy joined him not long after, and brought with her an eye for the fuller picture. Perennials, flowers, pottery, giftware, the kind of finds that make a garden feel curated and a home feel considered. And Melissa? She was there from the beginning, practically growing up behind the cash register.
That kind of story doesn't just build a business. It builds trust.
What It's Become
In 2010, the greenhouse structure went up, a natural next step for a business that had long since outgrown its original footprint. Today, Alliston Botanix is a full year-round gardening centre, stocked with tropical plants, organic growing supplies, bird seed, giftware, trees, shrubs, and the soil and mulch that started it all.
They also host workshops, and offer delivery throughout Alliston and the surrounding area, making it easier than ever to bring a little more intention to your outdoor space, wherever you are.
